Calculators

Auto

Car loans, leases, rebates, and what a payment can buy. Each calculator computes from the numbers you enter. Press Calculate on the page.

How to use the Auto calculators

Car loans, leases, rebates, and what a payment can buy.

There are 5 calculators in Auto. Each one has its own fields and its own formula. They are listed on this page so you can pick the question you actually have. Open the tool, replace the example, and press Calculate. The result stays in the browser.

Do not treat this index as a single worksheet. A payment, a payoff date, and a tax estimate answer different questions. Adding the headlines together mixes kinds of dollars. Read one result, then open the next tool if the question changed.

What each calculator is for

Auto Loan Calculator — Calculate a car payment from price, down payment, trade-in, sales tax, fees, and rate. The form includes Calculate from, Vehicle price, Monthly payment you can afford, Cash incentives. Price, tax, trade-in, and the payment that follows.

Car Affordability Calculator — Turn a share of monthly income into a vehicle price at the rate and term you expect. The form includes Gross monthly income, Payment share of income, Expected rate, Term. A price that fits the payment share you choose.

Cash Back or Low Rate Calculator — Compare a cash-back car offer with a lower interest rate over the same term. The form includes Vehicle price, Down payment, Cash back, Rate if you take cash back. Rebate or rate, judged by total payments.

The rest of this set

Auto Lease Calculator — Split a car lease payment into depreciation and finance charge using the money factor. The form includes MSRP, Negotiated cap cost, Cap cost reduction, Residual. Depreciation, money factor, and tax on the payment.

Boat Loan Calculator — Estimate a boat loan from price, trade-in, tax, fees, rate, and term. The form includes Boat price, Down payment, Trade-in, Sales tax. The same financing math, aimed at a hull.

What this category will not do

Auto pages on this desk are educational. They do not apply for a loan, file a return, or move money. Where a 2026 public figure is used, the methodology names the limit and the page says what it leaves out.

If a result looks wrong, check the field that does not match your paperwork before you blame the formula. A payment that includes tax and insurance will not match a quote that is principal and interest only. A contribution above a legal limit will still compound on this desk if you type it, which is why the retirement pages tell you to type only what you are allowed to add.

A session on this page

Pick one question in Auto and open only that calculator. Auto Loan, Car Affordability, Cash Back or Low Rate, Auto Lease, Boat Loan are the choices. Read the blurb under the name. If the blurb is not your question, go back and choose again. Running three tools “just in case” produces three headlines that were never meant to be added.

On the tool you chose, leave the example long enough to press Calculate once. You are checking that a result appears and that the labels match the story in the heading. Then replace every field. Car loans, leases, rebates, and what a payment can buy. The example numbers on each form are there so the formula can be demonstrated. They are not a suggestion that your price, payment, or income should look like the default.

Write down the headline and the two lines under it that you might quote later. If you cannot say which input produced them, you are not ready to use them. Change the input you are least sure about and press Calculate a second time. The size of the move tells you whether to go find a better source for that input before you decide.

After you press Calculate

Auto stays inside finance math. It does not collect an application and it does not rank products. When the result is an estimate of tax, a retirement limit, or a payment a lender could quote differently, the page says so. The disclaimer and the methodology apply to every link on this index, including Auto Loan Calculator and Boat Loan Calculator.

In one line each, the set is: Auto Loan Calculator (Price, tax, trade-in, and the payment that follows.); Car Affordability Calculator (A price that fits the payment share you choose.); Cash Back or Low Rate Calculator (Rebate or rate, judged by total payments.); Auto Lease Calculator (Depreciation, money factor, and tax on the payment.); Boat Loan Calculator (The same financing math, aimed at a hull.). Open the one whose line matches the paper in front of you.

FAQs

How many Auto calculators are on this page?

5. Auto Loan, Car Affordability, Cash Back or Low Rate are among them. Each link opens a form with its own Calculate button.

Do these tools share one formula?

No. Car loans, leases, rebates, and what a payment can buy. The shared part is the way you use them: type the figures, press Calculate, and read the lines under the headline.

Will the page save what I type?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Closing the page clears it. Do not type account numbers into a balance field.

Which result should I trust if two calculators disagree?

Check that they were asked the same question. Different fields produce different headlines on purpose. Match the labels to the document in front of you, then trust the page whose inputs you actually filled.

Is this financial, tax, or legal advice?

No. The figures are estimates from the inputs and the formula on each page. A lender, a custodian, or a filing form can apply a rule this index does not see.
